We work in quiet ways from the peace and tranquility of our Home Gallery away from the city. We are both collectors and dealers of beautiful artifacts from the Indo-Chinese Region. Since 1987, Percy Vatsaloo, who runs Isan Gallery has been traveling extensively across the Korat Plateau or Isan Region of North-Eastern Thailand to study and collect old textiles, lacquerware, basketry and silver from within Thailand and from neighbouring Laos, Cambodia and Burma.
Percy’s passion for things hand-made eventually got him involved in weaving. Since 1997 Percy started to realise his dream of creating his own silk fabrics. Today the thriving weaving studio in the outbacks of Isan produce contemporary works of arts in the form of one-of-a-kind "limited edition" silk shawls and wall hangings and other handwoven fabrics that are exclusive to Isan Gallery in Singapore.
The team of 35 weavers use age old techniques of Ikat, Supplementary and Tapestry Weaves on old-fashioned hand-looms to produce stunning Contemporary Works of Art. The use of handreeled silk results in a very supple fabric which is soft to the touch.
